Reloading the 45/70 for Pedersoli Rolling Block rifle
"Rectified Remington cartridge cases, fireformed, partially sized and cleaned inside and out after each shot. The primers are CCI BR2 “bench rest”.
Bullets made with a custom Steve Brooks mould producing a 500 grains bullet. Alloy 95% lead, 5% tin, chosen by weight having one grs. of discart, sized at .459” and greased with SPG grease.
The load of smokeless powder 1,35 grams Vihtavuori N110 + a strong carton wad over the powder, one dose of semolina (cream of wheat), one thin carton wad, and one of paper. The semolina dose (1,70 grams) calculated to have everything compressed 3 mm by the bullet when it is seated. The bullets uncrimped and touching the grooves on chambering.
Powder and semolina systematically weighted."
Thank you very much Johannes! Keep up the good work! [gallery link="file" ids="47,48,49"] Some more info on reloading the 45/70 Rolling Block with blackpowder:Related posts
